My journey in painting has been a profound exploration of the depths of my inner self, shaped by personal hardship and the life-changing experience of relocating to New York City. This new reality brought forth waves of depression, isolation, and nostalgia, and it was through the medium of art that I confronted and unraveled these emotions.
The process of painting self-portraits was a conversation with myself, a reaction to the way I felt at each moment of creating a new piece. Each painting lived its own life, uninfluenced by any external ideas and not conforming to any pre-established pattern of interpretation.
In 2012, I began to explore the process of monotype printing in my own innovative way. This artistic challenge allowed me to express myself in a new and uncharted territory. As I mastered this technique, I uncovered endless interpretations that flowed from my intuitive self-expression.
Fast forward to 2023, I initiated a new series of self-portraits, aiming to revisit the shadows of my past and the darker corners of my psyche. To my revelation, I discovered that some things remain unaltered, persistently etched into my existence—a constant reminder of the inescapable facets of my journey.
